Nos paysages urbains, en constante évolution, sont de plus en plus marqués par des manifestations artistiques à caractère récurrent ou même permanent. Toutefois l’art visuel de rue, hors normes, souvent provocateur, résiste aux conventions. Comment une démarche artistique fugace à vocation sociale, politique ou culturelle peut-elle laisser une empreinte dans la réalité urbaine? Le caractère spontané et éphémère de l’art visuel de rue peut-il survivre au-delà du spectacle?

This interdisciplinary symposium will feature four speakers from throughout the region, and is open to Fellows as well as the general public. The Royal Society of Canada has reinvigorated the WISET programme with the support of NSERC and CIHR. Dr. Jessica Roda, Anthropologist/Ethnomusicologist from UQAM will travel to Japan in March 2014. Her trip will include visits with and lectures at Ochanomizu University Senior High School, the National Museum of Ethnology, the National Women’s Education Center for Japan and the Asia/Pacific Cultural Center for UNESCO.
